Windsor CastleLocated near London, Windsor Castle overlooks River Thames. This castle was built almost 1000 years ago and contains various rich and interesting traces of History. Actually, it is the longest occupied castle in the world.
From William the Conqueror to the current Queen, many monarchs have been living there and left their mark. Queen Elizabeth II spends some weekends in Windsor Castle or comes around here for state affairs or her own entertainment.

In 1992 a fire destroyed some of the state apartments. With no insurance the Royal family found themselves with a £50 million bill, half of which was footed by the tax payer and the other half paid by the Queen herself. To raise the money the Queen began inviting the public into Buckingham Palace during August and September.
Windsor Castle covers an area of about 5 hectares. All over the centuries, it was submitted to many changes: divided into marvellous apartments or armed to face attacks. Now you will admire the stunning State apartments and their furniture from the Royal collection.

Discover one of the most beautiful chapels in England: St. George's chapel and the miniature masterpiece: Queen Mary's Dolls House. Enjoy exploring the surrounding areas of the castle. The immediate environs of the castle, known as the Home Park, include parkland and two working farms along with many estate cottages mainly occupied by employees.
The estate of Frogmore also located in the Home Park. Frogmore House and Gardens are open to the public on certain days of the year (the remainder of the Home Park is private). The Home Park joins the northern edge of the wider Windsor Great Park.
During the winter months an additional five rooms, known collectively as the Semi-State Rooms, are included in the visitor route. As Windsor Castle is a working royal palace, opening arrangements may change at short notice. Please check before planning a visit.
