This London play is first performed in 2005 at the beautiful west Yorkshire playhouse in Leeds.
By critics the newest version of the play in the Criterion Theatre is called more than excellent and a must for lovers of London theatre.
This is by far the best thriller of the west end theatre playing now, and the plays is set that the elaborate action will keep you on the edge of your seat during the whole play.

The play is build around the main character Richard Hannay that just moved to London after having lived in Africa for a long period. Wrongly accused of murder in London, Richard has to flee to Scotland with a note book full of mysterious codes to get away from the police. Richard has to conceal his steps while moving to the north of Scotland to keep himself from being arrested or killed by dangerous gangs.

Over a period of time Richard learns more about the notebook and its content and decodes “39 steps” and “Black Stone”. Richard our hero is completely astonished at what the words are related to because after some time he suspects the words “Black Stone” refers to a gang and “39 steps” refers to a place. The rest of this thriller/comedy shows Richard trying to decipher the codes and clear his name as a murderer.
