Hairspray

Hairspray is the new sensation of the west end Shaftesbury theatre. It came to London in 2007 and its going to play until October 2009 so make up your mind because this musical will be gone in no time. The musical is based on the homogeneous movie named "Hairspray" from 1988. The musical version of Hairspray was made in 2002 after a very successful tour and now it is being performed in London Shaftesbury theatre. This is great comedy musical that will make you laugh thanks to the wonderful cast.

The musical is directed by Jack O'Brien and the choreography is made by Jerry Mitchell. The story is set in the summer of of 1962 in Baltimore Maryland and shows the adventures of a full figured teenager named Tracy.

The only passion of the main character is dancing on the famous local television show the Corny Collins show. But because of her size she is not in line with the beauty ideal of the sixties, Tracy's shy and kind mother tries to dampen her enthusiasm to prevent her from getting hurt. Funny and unforeseen events give our wonderful Tracy the opportunity to do audition for the Corny Collins show. She is smart and funny and gets the part in the show. But now the real problems start for her because of jealousy and opportunism.

Hairspray touches modern themes of what exactly beauty is and what troubles the adolescents of today. With its fast change of events and the big humour and the big story this musical will surely have you rooting for the big ladies.

Hairspray has had good reviews and won numerous awards including 4 Oliver awards. The presentation and direction of the musical is sublime and the choreography phenomenal. And there are even a lot of different styles of music included such as blues and R&B.

The cast of the musical is great and very talented and perfect for the musical. Hairspray can be recommended to everyone and learn people how to coup with their weaknesses and learn how to love themselves.

If you want to see something uplifting and inspiring that this is great for you.
